To earn a place on the Team is in itself the mark of a "champion", and the opportunity of making friends with competitors and officials from other countries is a benefit that can last forever. The pageantry of the opening and closing ceremonies is a memorable event, and what a thrill it is to hear Canada's anthem being played, especially when it means you or one of your teammates is on the podium to collect the much-coveted medals.

Team Selection Policy
QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL MUZZLE LOADING TEAM
The shooter must be a Canadian resident, a member in good standing of the MLIMLA and a member in good standing of the Shooting Federation of Canada, dues to be paid by December 31st.
All scores must be shot with the firearms and equipment acceptable for MLAIC. Firearms must be original or reproduction.
Qualification procedures for a world/zone championship must be completed in the year preceding the event.
The shooter must send in a training program, on a monthly basis, beginning in January and continuing until the end of September. The shooter must attend the National Championships.
The shooter must pay a team fee of $25 if wishing to qualify.
The shooter must reach the qualifying score in an event in order to be named to the National Team. Qualifying scores are obtained by averaging the top three (3) scores from any of the following matches:
the current year’s National Championships
the Regional match (May)
the Provincial match (June)
any regional or International match held between the current and the previous year’s Nationals, ie: World Championships or Zone Championships
other International style matches, approved by the MLIMLA/CIMLT, Head Coach, target of which have been witnessed by a Match official, indicating date, score, and certifying that the match was held under MLAIC rules with International style equipment
These qualifying scores will be based upon achieving 92% of the World Championship record for an event and 87% of the Pacific Zone record for an event. Please note, for the 2023 Pacific Zone and the 2024 Championships, Shotgun qualifying scores have been set at 20/25. If the average of these scores is equal to or greater than the qualifying score for that match, the competitor will be considered qualified for the National Team. The best 8 in repo and the best 12 in original will be named to the International Team in descending order.
If a duly qualified team member is unable to attend the championship, the next eligible, qualified individual will be notified and placed in the vacancy.
Final team selection shall be made upon recommendation by the Section Chairpersons, the Head Coach and approved by the Team Manager.
Where the inclusion of a duly qualified individual is deemed to be detrimental to the performance of the Canadian International Team, that individual may be removed from the team by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.
The individual may appeal the ruling of the Board of Directors to the General Assembly in writing within 30 days of the dated notice.
LATE ENTRY QUALIFICATION PROCEDURES
Late entry qualification will be allowed on a ONE TIMEbasis only.
The individual must be new to the sport of International style muzzle- loading
The individual must contact the Head Coach to outline his/her intention to try to qualify for the CIMLT.
All scores prior to late entry date are null and void.
When the individual joins the program he/she will be expected to fall into the above outlined training program.
The individual will be expected to attend all subsequent available matches for qualifying scores and to gain experience.
In addition to the regular training program a minimum of 10 target scores will be required of which the top 5 would be averaged. Actual, witnessed targets must be submitted for rifle and pistol events, duly scored and signed by an official. For trap events, the actual score sheets must be submitted, duly scored and signed by an official. All events must be shot under MLAIC conditions.
Those individuals who qualify under Late Entry will named to the International Team and fill any available remaining vacancies.
EXCEPTIONS
Lapsed members or other non-qualified members wishing to qualify for the current team are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors and to the conditions set by the Board of Directors.
